Zones 1 & 2 Proving Popular For Rental Searches Right Now
City centre living will always be an appealing option to many, but often renters find themselves priced out of the market. However, falling prices over the last few weeks and months has seen a rise in the number of renters looking to take out leases on London properties in Zones 1 and 2, so now could be the perfect time to consider relocating.
This is according to a new report from Rightmove, revealing that there has been a significant rise in annual searches for rental properties in these parts of the capital. In fact, searches have doubled in areas like Nine Elms, Battersea and Clapham, with all of the top ten latest rental hotspots in Zones 1 and 2.
On average, the top ten London search areas have seen a drop of 15 per cent in asking rents over the last 12 months.
Director of property data with Rightmove Tim Bannister said: “Last year we identified a clear trend of renters moving out to quieter parts of Greater London as the allure of life in the city centre became less appealing during lockdown.
“However, with the prospect of some kind of normality potentially on the horizon, it appears that the capital’s renters are now looking to return to Inner London, and making the move now to take advantage of the lower rents.”
In further good news for renters, the government recently announced changes to the Model Tenancy Agreement, which allows tenants who have well-behaved pets to secure tenancies more easily… so you could soon be living in the inner city pad of your dreams, complete with your four-legged best friends.
